Narrative:

On departure from dfw to bdl (approximately XA30) approximately 8000 ft MSL, the tail compartment temperature high warning first flickered then quickly illuminated steady. Emergency procedure extinguished the light and flight was air interrupted. Landing was uneventful. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: the reporter stated the exact cause of the overheat warning was not passed on by maintenance but believes it was a pneumatic leak.

Title: AN MD80 ON DEP AT 8000 FT DECLARED AN EMER AND RETURNED TO THE FIELD DUE TO A TAIL COMPARTMENT OVERHEAT WARNING.
