Narrative:

I was flying aircraft from northern california to henderson, nv (L15), and developed an oil leak en route which covered the windscreen making visibility difficult. The sun was setting and I was straining to see the runway. I reported in to the non federal control tower when I was about 4 mi out and told to report downwind. In the stress of the moment, I neglected to report downwind and made a normal landing. There was no other traffic in the area. The controller admonished me after landing.
