Narrative:
Entered class D airspace for daa while flying from vpotu to voplm in the flyway between iad and dca. I was distraction by setting the autoplt and entered the edge of class D airspace before calling daa tower. I realized the problem when scanning the tac. I immediately exited the airspace. The altitude was a constant 2000 ft MSL and the maximum penetration into class D airspace was about .7 NM. On my return later that day, I properly called the daa tower. I could have prevented this by 1) better planning, 2) better familiarization with the autoplt, and 3) minimizing workload when flying through complex airspace.
