Narrative:
My aircraft was cleared to position and hold runway 8R. One aircraft was on landing rollout and an air carrier was on 3 mi final. Acknowledged instructions, taxied to position and nothing heard for 2-3 mins. Captain called tower twice and received response 'do you copy this transmission' from tower following our second transmission. Tower said they had called us, as had the ar aircraft, with no response. The air carrier aircraft was told to go around, and we were subsequently cleared for takeoff. We had no prior or subsequent problems with our radio xmissions or reception.
