Narrative:
It was brought to my attention during my last uio flight that another captain had raised an issue as to how the operations agents -- especially the former dispatchers -- are handling the flts out of uio. I have been to uio many, many times over the previous yrs. I am willing to say that the uio operation is by far one of the best and safest in our system. I was distressed to see that one of the key agent/former dispatchers was temporarily not being utilized in operations on the day of my last flight. Instead, a temporary from gye was being used to see how different the operation is. The assistance from a former dispatcher, and someone who knows the field and airport and how the conditions change, is invaluable in uio and all of our hit cities. I have seen these agents point out valuable information to both old and new crews while operating out of uio. This has always been in a most professional way. I hope that we continue to utilize these agents with their extremely important knowledge -- it is one of our important safety nets. I hope that they are not told to not offer their advice. This would be contradictory to our mission statement and FARS to utilize all available resources when planning our flts.

Title: A B757-200 PIC RPT ON THE NON USE OF OPS AGENTS, FORMER DISPATCHERS, IN THE DISPENSATION OF INFO TO FLCS AT SEQU, FO.
Narrative: IT WAS BROUGHT TO MY ATTN DURING MY LAST UIO FLT THAT ANOTHER CAPT HAD RAISED AN ISSUE AS TO HOW THE OPS AGENTS -- ESPECIALLY THE FORMER DISPATCHERS -- ARE HANDLING THE FLTS OUT OF UIO. I HAVE BEEN TO UIO MANY, MANY TIMES OVER THE PREVIOUS YRS. I AM WILLING TO SAY THAT THE UIO OP IS BY FAR ONE OF THE BEST AND SAFEST IN OUR SYS. I WAS DISTRESSED TO SEE THAT ONE OF THE KEY AGENT/FORMER DISPATCHERS WAS TEMPORARILY NOT BEING UTILIZED IN OPS ON THE DAY OF MY LAST FLT. INSTEAD, A TEMPORARY FROM GYE WAS BEING USED TO SEE HOW DIFFERENT THE OP IS. THE ASSISTANCE FROM A FORMER DISPATCHER, AND SOMEONE WHO KNOWS THE FIELD AND ARPT AND HOW THE CONDITIONS CHANGE, IS INVALUABLE IN UIO AND ALL OF OUR HIT CITIES. I HAVE SEEN THESE AGENTS POINT OUT VALUABLE INFO TO BOTH OLD AND NEW CREWS WHILE OPERATING OUT OF UIO.
