Narrative:
I was enroute from gls to publication and made a fuel stop at cds (childress, tx). I was in a hurry and after fueling was taxing for takeoff. I was programming both the LORAN and GPS for navigation to publication when I inadvertently crossed the hold line. No other aircraft was on approach or in the are except a cherokee taking off from an intersection (ahead of my aircraft). The lesson learned is to do one task at a time and complete each before going on to the next. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: reporter acknowledged that some measure of self-imposed schedule pressure led him to attempt to program his navigation units during taxi instead of when parked on the ramp. Diverted attention led directly to this minor runway incursion event.

Title: GA PLT EXPERIENCES RWY INCURSION AT CDS DUE DISTRACTION WITH COCKPIT PROGRAMMING DUTIES.
Narrative: I WAS ENROUTE FROM GLS TO PUB AND MADE A FUEL STOP AT CDS (CHILDRESS, TX). I WAS IN A HURRY AND AFTER FUELING WAS TAXING FOR TKOF. I WAS PROGRAMMING BOTH THE LORAN AND GPS FOR NAVIGATION TO PUB WHEN I INADVERTENTLY CROSSED THE HOLD LINE. NO OTHER ACFT WAS ON APCH OR IN THE ARE EXCEPT A CHEROKEE TAKING OFF FROM AN INTERSECTION (AHEAD OF MY ACFT). THE LESSON LEARNED IS TO DO ONE TASK AT A TIME AND COMPLETE EACH BEFORE GOING ON TO THE NEXT. CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING INFO: RPTR ACKNOWLEDGED THAT SOME MEASURE OF SELF-IMPOSED SCHEDULE PRESSURE LED HIM TO ATTEMPT TO PROGRAM HIS NAVIGATION UNITS DURING TAXI INSTEAD OF WHEN PARKED ON THE RAMP. DIVERTED ATTENTION LED DIRECTLY TO THIS MINOR RWY INCURSION EVENT.
