Narrative:

Tower gave us a heading of 070 degrees at the middle marker, then cleared us for takeoff runway 8R. At approximately 2000 ft, tower asked us what heading we were flying and I realized that the first officer was still flying runway heading. I was busy adjusting the radar since there were storms off the east end of the airport. ATC then gave us a 360 degree heading and we were on our way. Supplemental information from acn 486631: while being cleared for takeoff on runway 8R, we were instructed to turn to a heading of 070 degrees at the inner marker. After rotation, I became distraction with the initial climb out procedure and missed seeing the marker beacon. Shortly after this, we were queried by ATC of our heading and then realized we had missed the turn at the marker. ATC gave us a left turn to 360 degrees and we proceeded to dfw without incident.

Narrative: TWR GAVE US A HDG OF 070 DEGS AT THE MIDDLE MARKER, THEN CLRED US FOR TKOF RWY 8R. AT APPROX 2000 FT, TWR ASKED US WHAT HDG WE WERE FLYING AND I REALIZED THAT THE FO WAS STILL FLYING RWY HDG. I WAS BUSY ADJUSTING THE RADAR SINCE THERE WERE STORMS OFF THE E END OF THE ARPT. ATC THEN GAVE US A 360 DEG HDG AND WE WERE ON OUR WAY. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 486631: WHILE BEING CLRED FOR TKOF ON RWY 8R, WE WERE INSTRUCTED TO TURN TO A HDG OF 070 DEGS AT THE INNER MARKER. AFTER ROTATION, I BECAME DISTR WITH THE INITIAL CLBOUT PROC AND MISSED SEEING THE MARKER BEACON. SHORTLY AFTER THIS, WE WERE QUERIED BY ATC OF OUR HDG AND THEN REALIZED WE HAD MISSED THE TURN AT THE MARKER. ATC GAVE US A L TURN TO 360 DEGS AND WE PROCEEDED TO DFW WITHOUT INCIDENT.
