Narrative:

Descending into mco ATC cleared us to X lamma at 10000 ft and 250 KTS. First officer read back same. (Bitho STAR says to plan lamma at 12000 ft and 250 KTS.) after switching to mco approach they asked a couple times what our altitude was, and we responded 10000 ft. They never said anything in reply, however, their initial questioning caused us to question what our clearance actually was. We don't really know whether this is an actual altitude deviation or miscom between center and approach. Supplemental information from acn 486516: ZJX cleared flight to cross lamma at 10000 ft and 250 KTS and that was my readback. Mco asked our altitude at lamma 3 times and each time I read 10000 ft.
