Narrative:
Were we told to expedite taxi into position and hold and be ready for an immediate takeoff. The previous landing aircraft cleared the runway as we got in position for takeoff. Another aircraft was on short final. Transmission from tower was cut off but we heard 'fly runway heading, cleared for takeoff.' we responded with a full readback of 'roger, flight X cleared for takeoff.' we started our takeoff roll and were told by tower to abort and that we had not been cleared for takeoff. It appeared that the tower was broadcasting on 2 frequencys and listening on both. We saw another aircraft had departed runway 30L, but we were not told that the other aircraft was using other runway which was out of our sight. I feel that the incident was a result of ATC rushing us into position with the exclamation of 'be ready for an immediate departure.' due to high winds the airport was reduced to a one runway operation with at least 40 aircraft in line for takeoff and others holding to land. I am still not sure if ATC cleared us for takeoff or the other aircraft. I never heard the tower clear the other aircraft into position and hold.

Title: A DC9-10 FLC HAS TO ABORT THEIR TKOF WHEN MISUNDERSTANDING WHO THE CLRNC WAS FOR AT MSP, MN.
Narrative: WERE WE TOLD TO EXPEDITE TAXI INTO POS AND HOLD AND BE READY FOR AN IMMEDIATE TKOF. THE PREVIOUS LNDG ACFT CLRED THE RWY AS WE GOT IN POS FOR TKOF. ANOTHER ACFT WAS ON SHORT FINAL. XMISSION FROM TWR WAS CUT OFF BUT WE HEARD 'FLY RWY HDG, CLRED FOR TKOF.' WE RESPONDED WITH A FULL READBACK OF 'ROGER, FLT X CLRED FOR TKOF.' WE STARTED OUR TKOF ROLL AND WERE TOLD BY TWR TO ABORT AND THAT WE HAD NOT BEEN CLRED FOR TKOF. IT APPEARED THAT THE TWR WAS BROADCASTING ON 2 FREQS AND LISTENING ON BOTH. WE SAW ANOTHER ACFT HAD DEPARTED RWY 30L, BUT WE WERE NOT TOLD THAT THE OTHER ACFT WAS USING OTHER RWY WHICH WAS OUT OF OUR SIGHT. I FEEL THAT THE INCIDENT WAS A RESULT OF ATC RUSHING US INTO POS WITH THE EXCLAMATION OF 'BE READY FOR AN IMMEDIATE DEP.' DUE TO HIGH WINDS THE ARPT WAS REDUCED TO A ONE RWY OP WITH AT LEAST 40 ACFT IN LINE FOR TKOF AND OTHERS HOLDING TO LAND. I AM STILL NOT SURE IF ATC CLRED US FOR TKOF OR THE OTHER ACFT. I NEVER HEARD THE TWR CLR THE OTHER ACFT INTO POS AND HOLD.
