Narrative:
On final approach to landing the captain called for gear down before landing checklist. On readback of checklist it was observed we did not have a nose gear indication down confirmed. We notified tower and successfully completed a go around. After running through the problem solving checklist we still had no confirmation of a nose gear down and locked. We requested a low fly-by of republic airport tower to confirm. We completed 2 fly-by's and got an incomplete answer. Company also flew along side and the same conclusion that the gear was not locked. After talking to flight control in st louis, we completed 2 fly-by's on runway 4L at jfk. They confirmed gear looked down. Then we flew out south of jfk and continued to burn off fuel to 1000 pounds and was cleared to land runway 4R. We completed emergency landing checklist with the nose gear not locked. After touchdown nose gear did not fail and a normal rollout was completed. Passenger were evacuate/evacuationed as per checklist.
