On descent and cleared for approach to ktn, severe turbulence was reported. We asked to hold and were given 17000 ft. We were descending and passed through 17000 ft before recapturing the altitude.

Narrative: ON DSCNT AND CLRED FOR APCH TO KTN, SEVERE TURB WAS RPTED. WE ASKED TO HOLD AND WERE GIVEN 17000 FT. WE WERE DSNDING AND PASSED THROUGH 17000 FT BEFORE RECAPTURING THE ALT.
