Narrative:
On oct/xa/00, air carrier flight abc departed the gate in stl for mia. Both engines were started at the gate and standard thrust was used for takeoff. The flight departed stl on runway 30L in VFR conditions when the left engine failed at approximately 800 ft AGL. An emergency was declared and emergency equipment was requested. After securing the failed engine and completing the QRH, the flight returned to stl safely on runway 30L stopping on the runway. No damage was reported by the emergency vehicles, and the aircraft returned to the gate. All 136 passenger and crew deplaned the aircraft with no reported injuries and were boarded on another aircraft where the flight continued to miami.
