Narrative:
On an IFR flight plan teb-hpn, an IFR clearance was received, teterboro 4 departure and 3000 ft. The departure requires a climb to 1500 ft on a 040 degree heading. At 1500 ft, turn left to patterson NDB climbing to 2000 ft. After patterson NDB, climb and maintain 3000 ft. 3000 ft was inadvertently set in the altitude pre-selector. After takeoff a frequency change was made to departure control and the initial call-up was made climbing to 3000 ft. Passing 2300 ft as we got the check altitude constraint message on the FMS, the controller called and said that although he heard us report climbing to 3000 ft, the SID had a 2000 ft restr. He cleared us to continue climbing to 3000 ft as there were no conflicts and that we should remember the restr in the future. The departure was properly briefed, however the wrong altitude was set.

Title: CREW HAD ALT OVERSHOOT IN N90 CLASS B.
Narrative: ON AN IFR FLT PLAN TEB-HPN, AN IFR CLRNC WAS RECEIVED, TETERBORO 4 DEP AND 3000 FT. THE DEP REQUIRES A CLB TO 1500 FT ON A 040 DEG HDG. AT 1500 FT, TURN L TO PATTERSON NDB CLBING TO 2000 FT. AFTER PATTERSON NDB, CLB AND MAINTAIN 3000 FT. 3000 FT WAS INADVERTENTLY SET IN THE ALT PRE-SELECTOR. AFTER TKOF A FREQ CHANGE WAS MADE TO DEP CTL AND THE INITIAL CALL-UP WAS MADE CLBING TO 3000 FT. PASSING 2300 FT AS WE GOT THE CHK ALT CONSTRAINT MESSAGE ON THE FMS, THE CTLR CALLED AND SAID THAT ALTHOUGH HE HEARD US RPT CLBING TO 3000 FT, THE SID HAD A 2000 FT RESTR. HE CLRED US TO CONTINUE CLBING TO 3000 FT AS THERE WERE NO CONFLICTS AND THAT WE SHOULD REMEMBER THE RESTR IN THE FUTURE. THE DEP WAS PROPERLY BRIEFED, HOWEVER THE WRONG ALT WAS SET.
