Narrative:
While taxiing to the active runway at roa (after the taxi checks were completed), the crew was discussing far requirements pertaining to takeoff clrncs. The captain stopped the aircraft prior to the runway, but the nose of the aircraft extended over the runway hold short line. The crew noticed their mistake and asked tower for an immediate takeoff and was cleared by tower. I feel the crew should have been more aware of the hold short line and crew conversations should have been only pertaining to the upcoming takeoff.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: A BA3100 CAPT ADMITTED XING THE HOLD SHORT LINE AT ROA.
Narrative: WHILE TAXIING TO THE ACTIVE RWY AT ROA (AFTER THE TAXI CHKS WERE COMPLETED), THE CREW WAS DISCUSSING FAR REQUIREMENTS PERTAINING TO TKOF CLRNCS. THE CAPT STOPPED THE ACFT PRIOR TO THE RWY, BUT THE NOSE OF THE ACFT EXTENDED OVER THE RWY HOLD SHORT LINE. THE CREW NOTICED THEIR MISTAKE AND ASKED TWR FOR AN IMMEDIATE TKOF AND WAS CLRED BY TWR. I FEEL THE CREW SHOULD HAVE BEEN MORE AWARE OF THE HOLD SHORT LINE AND CREW CONVERSATIONS SHOULD HAVE BEEN ONLY PERTAINING TO THE UPCOMING TKOF.
