Narrative:
On vectors after departing stockton, cleared to join V585, patty intersection, V111 sns, mry. Stockton advised I was 2-3 mi east of V585. I misread my position approaching abeam mod and encountered moderate to momentarily severe turbulence in clouds. Approach control promptly provided corrective vector to join airway.
