Narrative:
Aircraft on taxi to runway 12 sql, inadvertently taxied beyond no movement area protecting ramp low drainage area, west side of runway 12. No disruption to airport operations or problem for aircraft on taxi, taxi line clearly indicated right turn around area, however, an error in decision to taxi direct to run-up area, aircraft taxi continue through area to run-up without incident. Protected area is not as obvious as might be, could use new paint on taxiway, but movement was an error in decision because of perception of the logical direct route to run-up area. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: the reporter said that the large open ramp area has two taxi lines painted. One for traffic from each direction. The one they were following had two 90 degree turns to avoid a low area of the ramp that is used for drainage. The visual picture is that the best route to the run-up area is straight ahead. The deterioration of the painted lines and admitted inattention to them resulted in taxiing through the drainage area.

Title: TXWY MARKINGS AT SQL RPTED TO BE WEARING AND BECOMING LESS OBVIOUS. A TXWY EXCURSION IS THE RESULT.
Narrative: ACFT ON TAXI TO RWY 12 SQL, INADVERTENTLY TAXIED BEYOND NO MOVEMENT AREA PROTECTING RAMP LOW DRAINAGE AREA, W SIDE OF RWY 12. NO DISRUPTION TO ARPT OPS OR PROB FOR ACFT ON TAXI, TAXI LINE CLEARLY INDICATED R TURN AROUND AREA, HOWEVER, AN ERROR IN DECISION TO TAXI DIRECT TO RUN-UP AREA, ACFT TAXI CONTINUE THROUGH AREA TO RUN-UP WITHOUT INCIDENT. PROTECTED AREA IS NOT AS OBVIOUS AS MIGHT BE, COULD USE NEW PAINT ON TXWY, BUT MOVEMENT WAS AN ERROR IN DECISION BECAUSE OF PERCEPTION OF THE LOGICAL DIRECT RTE TO RUN-UP AREA. CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING INFO: THE RPTR SAID THAT THE LARGE OPEN RAMP AREA HAS TWO TAXI LINES PAINTED. ONE FOR TRAFFIC FROM EACH DIRECTION. THE ONE THEY WERE FOLLOWING HAD TWO 90 DEG TURNS TO AVOID A LOW AREA OF THE RAMP THAT IS USED FOR DRAINAGE. THE VISUAL PICTURE IS THAT THE BEST RTE TO THE RUN-UP AREA IS STRAIGHT AHEAD. THE DETERIORATION OF THE PAINTED LINES AND ADMITTED INATTENTION TO THEM RESULTED IN TAXIING THROUGH THE DRAINAGE AREA.
