Narrative:
While holding short of runway 22 at papa taxiway (#1), the controller issued the instruction air carrier X, without delay, cross runway 22 at papa. Anticipating this instruction I advanced the power and partially crossed the hold line. I suddenly realized the flight number was not my aircraft and stopped. Air carrier Y was directly behind me and the controller confused the numbers. The controller then realized his mistake (I believe he intended me to cross) and issued hold short instructions to both aircraft. My nose was already over the hold line.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: ACR TAXI'S ACROSS RWY 22 HOLD SHORT LINE PRIOR TO RECOGNIZE HE REACTED TO WRONG, BUT SIMILAR CALL SIGN.
Narrative: WHILE HOLDING SHORT OF RWY 22 AT PAPA TXWY (#1), THE CTLR ISSUED THE INSTRUCTION ACR X, WITHOUT DELAY, CROSS RWY 22 AT PAPA. ANTICIPATING THIS INSTRUCTION I ADVANCED THE PWR AND PARTIALLY CROSSED THE HOLD LINE. I SUDDENLY REALIZED THE FLT NUMBER WAS NOT MY ACFT AND STOPPED. ACR Y WAS DIRECTLY BEHIND ME AND THE CTLR CONFUSED THE NUMBERS. THE CTLR THEN REALIZED HIS MISTAKE (I BELIEVE HE INTENDED ME TO CROSS) AND ISSUED HOLD SHORT INSTRUCTIONS TO BOTH ACFT. MY NOSE WAS ALREADY OVER THE HOLD LINE.
