Narrative:
During NDB 35 approach into pns, a loss of situational awareness occurred. Thinking we were on the next segment of the approach, the pilots descended to 700 ft. The altitude restr was 1200 ft. The tower called an altitude alert, we climbed and crossed into the next segment of the approach. The rest of the approach and landing were uneventful.
