Narrative:
I am a student pilot nearing my check ride. My instructor and I were at burke so I could finish my solo controled fields. During my final landing to pick him up, I cut my base leg short to avoid the stadium, did not get fully lined up with the runway. Got lined up just before crossing over land. I had too much speed, the plane ballooned. I did not recover it properly. The plane landed on its nosewheel, collapsing it. The plane skidded 15-20 ft before stopping. Supplemental information from acn 402326: student pilot on a solo flight mishandled a bounced landing, resulting in nose gear failure and damaged propeller. There was a football game nearby, with a large abmount of banner tow traffic near the final approach course. There was no real collision hazard, but the student perceived a hazard. The student is being retrained on the importance of a proper approach, as well as proper management of airspeed, bounced landings, and go-arounds.
