Narrative:

On the SID, clt departure control was controling the flight. At 8000 ft, we received a clearance to climb to 15000 ft. The captain read back 15000 ft and dialed 15000 ft into the altitude window. Later, we were switched to ZTL. The controller asked who cleared us to 15000 ft. The captain responded that the previous controller had. ZTL then said that clt departure control only owned up to 12000 ft. Both the captain and I heard the clearance to 15000 ft. The captain read back 15000 ft. If this was not what clt departure control said, he should have corrected us. No conflicts arose from this. Atl said 'no problem.'
