Narrative:
We were cleared for the back course runway 27L at ptk just outside of ernst (about 1 mi or less). At 2500 ft we broke out. I was right of centerline and so I went left to line up with the centerline of runway 27L. It was very turbulent just below the clouds. Tower told us to check our altitude. We were at 2200 ft (100 ft off) in VFR. We said 'we have the runway in sight.' he said 'I see, you're now clear to land.' turbulence caused the loss of 100 ft.
