Narrative:
Taxiing for takeoff, #1 generator tripped off reset and tripped off again. After stopping the aircraft we called maintenance control and dispatch after explaining the situation and myself going through the MEL book, maintenance control told us we could delay placard installation and contacted dispatch and amended the release, and continued on to sna. After arriving in sna, maintenance came to the aircraft and we went through the MEL. I then realized we had performed the operations portion of the MEL, but not the maintenance portion of MEL. Maintenance control and myself did not completely follow the MEL procedure.
