Air Traffic Incident | Pilot Deviation |
Narrative:
While on approach (vectors) for afw crew clarified they requested ILS from ATC since we were unable to see the airport and to maintain currency. ATC controller appeared agitated and gave us a sequence of vectors that were very sharp involving 90 degree turns to apparently take us further out to intercept the ILS. We complied immediately and fully with all ATC vectors without comment or objection, however, the controller still appeared to be agitated. The only other traffic we heard on the frequency was a cessna unrelated to the ILS, so we did wonder why we were being turned so sharply so many times to intercept the localizer. The controller gave us a sharp vector to intercept and cleared us for ILS. Although we used a 30 degree bank turn, we flew slightly through localizer, but corrected within 2 dots. The controller became very angry and threatened to 'take us around again' after I explained we were following the vectors exactly. We did not encourage this verbal outburst in any way and continued approach to normal landing. Lesson: do not let ATC or and distraction that comes along keep you from flying the aircraft. Although we had not idea why ATC was upset with us, we dropped it and flew the plane although we were very angered. This also shows we are all human and can have bad days. This is the first time I've had any problems like this with ATC.

Title: LJ35 FLC CONCERNED WITH D10 CTLR COMMENTS ON VECTORS TO DFW FINAL APCH COURSE.
Narrative: WHILE ON APCH (VECTORS) FOR AFW CREW CLARIFIED THEY REQUESTED ILS FROM ATC SINCE WE WERE UNABLE TO SEE THE ARPT AND TO MAINTAIN CURRENCY. ATC CTLR APPEARED AGITATED AND GAVE US A SEQUENCE OF VECTORS THAT WERE VERY SHARP INVOLVING 90 DEG TURNS TO APPARENTLY TAKE US FURTHER OUT TO INTERCEPT THE ILS. WE COMPLIED IMMEDIATELY AND FULLY WITH ALL ATC VECTORS WITHOUT COMMENT OR OBJECTION, HOWEVER, THE CTLR STILL APPEARED TO BE AGITATED. THE ONLY OTHER TFC WE HEARD ON THE FREQ WAS A CESSNA UNRELATED TO THE ILS, SO WE DID WONDER WHY WE WERE BEING TURNED SO SHARPLY SO MANY TIMES TO INTERCEPT THE LOC. THE CTLR GAVE US A SHARP VECTOR TO INTERCEPT AND CLRED US FOR ILS. ALTHOUGH WE USED A 30 DEG BANK TURN, WE FLEW SLIGHTLY THROUGH LOC, BUT CORRECTED WITHIN 2 DOTS. THE CTLR BECAME VERY ANGRY AND THREATENED TO 'TAKE US AROUND AGAIN' AFTER I EXPLAINED WE WERE FOLLOWING THE VECTORS EXACTLY. WE DID NOT ENCOURAGE THIS VERBAL OUTBURST IN ANY WAY AND CONTINUED APCH TO NORMAL LNDG. LESSON: DO NOT LET ATC OR AND DISTR THAT COMES ALONG KEEP YOU FROM FLYING THE ACFT. ALTHOUGH WE HAD NOT IDEA WHY ATC WAS UPSET WITH US, WE DROPPED IT AND FLEW THE PLANE ALTHOUGH WE WERE VERY ANGERED. THIS ALSO SHOWS WE ARE ALL HUMAN AND CAN HAVE BAD DAYS. THIS IS THE FIRST TIME I'VE HAD ANY PROBS LIKE THIS WITH ATC.
