Narrative:
Cleared out of deicing pad to runway 31 at bna. Ice and snow covered taxiway (100%). Runway 31 has a critical area that is in use at all times, except when visual approachs in progress. When cleared into position and hold, controller asked if we had been told by ground control to hold short of critical area, that we had passed it and an airplane did a go around. It was sunny at the time and I did not hear or see this aircraft, but first officer did. First officer answered negative, we had not been told hold short of critical area. (We did not transgress the runway.) I'm not sure if I was at fault or not, this is one of those 'gotcha' things.

Title: FLC OF A DC9 WERE ADVISED BY THE TWR THAT AN ACFT WAS SENT AROUND BECAUSE THEY HAD NOT HELD AT THE CRITICAL HOLD SHORT LINE.
