Narrative:
Aircraft was deiced. During taxi, engines were run up a couple of times after deicing. On takeoff roll (40-60 KTS), left engine compressor stalled/flamed out. Takeoff was aborted and fire department called to check aircraft prior to taxi onto ramp. (Fire handle and agent used to isolate engines.) possible ice buildup on engine. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: the reporter stated the cause of the engine stall was not reported by maintenance. The reporter said it may have something to do with icing, but is not sure.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: A B757-200 REJECTED TKOF AT 40-60 KTS DUE TO #1 ENG COMPRESSOR STALL, CAUSE UNKNOWN.
Narrative: ACFT WAS DEICED. DURING TAXI, ENGS WERE RUN UP A COUPLE OF TIMES AFTER DEICING. ON TKOF ROLL (40-60 KTS), L ENG COMPRESSOR STALLED/FLAMED OUT. TKOF WAS ABORTED AND FIRE DEPT CALLED TO CHK ACFT PRIOR TO TAXI ONTO RAMP. (FIRE HANDLE AND AGENT USED TO ISOLATE ENGS.) POSSIBLE ICE BUILDUP ON ENG. CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING INFO: THE RPTR STATED THE CAUSE OF THE ENG STALL WAS NOT RPTED BY MAINT. THE RPTR SAID IT MAY HAVE SOMETHING TO DO WITH ICING, BUT IS NOT SURE.
