Narrative:
We landed on runway 35L at david wayne hooks memorial (dwh) and the tower instructed us to exit right at the next taxiway and call ground short of runway 35R. We exited at taxiway east and called ground. Ground instructed us to continue taxiing into a holding triangle and gave us instructions to call tower after parking. After parking, my captain called the tower and we were told that we had taxied across the extended centerline of the approach end of runway 17L. The captain said there was confusion in the tower if they gave us proper instruction for holding short of the approach end of runway 17L. We also were confused with the airport layout and were looking to crossing another runway not taxiing across the extended centerline of runway 17L. I think to correct the situation pilots should know the layout of the airport and the controller needs to give better holding instructions.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: C500 CREW HAD RWY INCURSION OF THE EXTENDED CTRLINE OF RWY 17L AT DWH.
Narrative: WE LANDED ON RWY 35L AT DAVID WAYNE HOOKS MEMORIAL (DWH) AND THE TWR INSTRUCTED US TO EXIT R AT THE NEXT TXWY AND CALL GND SHORT OF RWY 35R. WE EXITED AT TXWY E AND CALLED GND. GND INSTRUCTED US TO CONTINUE TAXIING INTO A HOLDING TRIANGLE AND GAVE US INSTRUCTIONS TO CALL TWR AFTER PARKING. AFTER PARKING, MY CAPT CALLED THE TWR AND WE WERE TOLD THAT WE HAD TAXIED ACROSS THE EXTENDED CTRLINE OF THE APCH END OF RWY 17L. THE CAPT SAID THERE WAS CONFUSION IN THE TWR IF THEY GAVE US PROPER INSTRUCTION FOR HOLDING SHORT OF THE APCH END OF RWY 17L. WE ALSO WERE CONFUSED WITH THE ARPT LAYOUT AND WERE LOOKING TO XING ANOTHER RWY NOT TAXIING ACROSS THE EXTENDED CTRLINE OF RWY 17L. I THINK TO CORRECT THE SIT PLTS SHOULD KNOW THE LAYOUT OF THE ARPT AND THE CTLR NEEDS TO GIVE BETTER HOLDING INSTRUCTIONS.
