Narrative:
Midland ground issued taxi instructions to runway 34L. We approached intersection P that led to runway 34L threshold, there was some confusion by the crew as to where the end of the runway was located as taxiway left is very close and that leads to runway 4 which was not the active runway at the time. Our aircraft taxied past runway 34L and onto taxiway left that led to runway 4. Ground control questioned us and we were given permission to taxi onto runway 4 and then proceed north at the intersection of runway 34L to the threshold. All these events occurred in a matter of 5-10 seconds from the time our crew questioned our position until we had taxied onto runway 4 via taxiway left. No conflict with other aircraft or ground vehicles occurred. Contributing factors: clear VFR day, last leg of sequence, failure to stop the aircraft's taxi and question ATC the moment there was any doubt as to the correct location of runway 34L threshold.

Title: E145 CREW HAD RWY INCURSION AT MAF.
Narrative: MIDLAND GND ISSUED TAXI INSTRUCTIONS TO RWY 34L. WE APCHED INTXN P THAT LED TO RWY 34L THRESHOLD, THERE WAS SOME CONFUSION BY THE CREW AS TO WHERE THE END OF THE RWY WAS LOCATED AS TXWY L IS VERY CLOSE AND THAT LEADS TO RWY 4 WHICH WAS NOT THE ACTIVE RWY AT THE TIME. OUR ACFT TAXIED PAST RWY 34L AND ONTO TXWY L THAT LED TO RWY 4. GND CTL QUESTIONED US AND WE WERE GIVEN PERMISSION TO TAXI ONTO RWY 4 AND THEN PROCEED N AT THE INTXN OF RWY 34L TO THE THRESHOLD. ALL THESE EVENTS OCCURRED IN A MATTER OF 5-10 SECONDS FROM THE TIME OUR CREW QUESTIONED OUR POS UNTIL WE HAD TAXIED ONTO RWY 4 VIA TXWY L. NO CONFLICT WITH OTHER ACFT OR GND VEHICLES OCCURRED. CONTRIBUTING FACTORS: CLR VFR DAY, LAST LEG OF SEQUENCE, FAILURE TO STOP THE ACFT'S TAXI AND QUESTION ATC THE MOMENT THERE WAS ANY DOUBT AS TO THE CORRECT LOCATION OF RWY 34L THRESHOLD.
