Narrative:

On descent into sjc (on briny arrival STAR) we were given instructions to cross 15 mi southeast of pye at 11000 ft. About 4 mi prior to pye, ATC asked if we would make the 11000 ft in time. We realized we had put 15000 ft in for the altitude instead of 11000 ft. We then started down to 11000 ft. ATC said to get down best we could to 11000 ft. The captain and myself both verified the altitude but had 15000 ft on our minds. I believe the '15' was easily confused with the 15 mi southeast of pye clearance. This could be a good lesson in checking and doublechking any altitudes.

Narrative: ON DSCNT INTO SJC (ON BRINY ARR STAR) WE WERE GIVEN INSTRUCTIONS TO CROSS 15 MI SE OF PYE AT 11000 FT. ABOUT 4 MI PRIOR TO PYE, ATC ASKED IF WE WOULD MAKE THE 11000 FT IN TIME. THE CAPT AND MYSELF BOTH VERIFIED THE ALT BUT HAD 15000 FT ON OUR MINDS. I BELIEVE THE '15' WAS EASILY CONFUSED WITH THE 15 MI SE OF PYE CLRNC. THIS COULD BE A GOOD LESSON IN CHKING AND DOUBLECHKING ANY ALTS.
