Narrative:
Landing runway 25L, departure runway 25R, first officer landed, planned turnoff taxiway C4 or taxiway C5. I took control at taxiway C4 to make turn. Tower issued clearance to contact ground for crossing runway 20. I assumed clearance was to cross runway 20 and contact ground. As first officer returned to radio, we exited runway. When we contacted ground they responded 'cross runway 20, taxi to gate.' at that time, we had crossed runway 20 hold short line. After we parked at the gate, the first officer advised me that our clearance was to get crossing clearance from ground. Ground did not indicate anything unusual either because they did not know our exact location or they did not care. Contributing factors; runway 20 was not an active runway. I frequently go to bru and was expecting a certain clearance. First officer assumed I had understood the clearance. Landing about XA00 body time, very little room between turnoff of runway 25L at taxiway C4 and approaching runway 20.

Title: WDB CREW, CLRING AFTER LNDG, TAXIED PAST HOLD SHORT LINE OF INTERSECTING RWY WITHOUT CLRNC.
Narrative: LNDG RWY 25L, DEP RWY 25R, FO LANDED, PLANNED TURNOFF TXWY C4 OR TXWY C5. I TOOK CTL AT TXWY C4 TO MAKE TURN. TWR ISSUED CLRNC TO CONTACT GND FOR XING RWY 20. I ASSUMED CLRNC WAS TO CROSS RWY 20 AND CONTACT GND. AS FO RETURNED TO RADIO, WE EXITED RWY. WHEN WE CONTACTED GND THEY RESPONDED 'CROSS RWY 20, TAXI TO GATE.' AT THAT TIME, WE HAD CROSSED RWY 20 HOLD SHORT LINE. AFTER WE PARKED AT THE GATE, THE FO ADVISED ME THAT OUR CLRNC WAS TO GET XING CLRNC FROM GND. GND DID NOT INDICATE ANYTHING UNUSUAL EITHER BECAUSE THEY DID NOT KNOW OUR EXACT LOCATION OR THEY DID NOT CARE. CONTRIBUTING FACTORS; RWY 20 WAS NOT AN ACTIVE RWY. I FREQUENTLY GO TO BRU AND WAS EXPECTING A CERTAIN CLRNC. FO ASSUMED I HAD UNDERSTOOD THE CLRNC. LNDG ABOUT XA00 BODY TIME, VERY LITTLE ROOM BTWN TURNOFF OF RWY 25L AT TXWY C4 AND APCHING RWY 20.
