Narrative:
During gear retraction after takeoff, right hydraulic leak caused pressure and quantity to go to zero. Gear was up and locked. Continued per flight plan to phx, performing checklists, communicating with company dispatch and maintenance personnel. Briefed flight attendants about potential outcome. Declared emergency with phx approach in order to have extra time and space to extend landing gear by alternate system and have crash fire rescue equipment equipment standing by. Gear extended, 3 green lights, doors hanging, landed without incident. Cleared runway and had maintenance pin gear and wire doors up. Towed to gate. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: the reporter stated the cause of the right hydraulic loss of pressure was a leak in the tail section of the aircraft. The reporter said maintenance did not advise the failed component or components.
