Narrative:
After tower giving us clearance to go crosswind for runway 9L, they told us to change frequency to 124.05. I changed the frequency, but accidentally put 124.5. I did not realize what I have done. I reported on the new frequency. To the best of my recollection, I was cleared to do the stop-and-go. We did the stop-and-go. I called tower to request a full stop, but no joy on that frequency, so I went back to the first frequency. When I reported on that frequency, tower notified me to call them as soon as I parked. What I believe caused this mistake was, putting in the wrong frequency, not getting the proper confirmation from tower after changing frequency, and the distraction of explaining ways to improve the lndgs to my students.

Title: DISTR INSTRUCTIONAL PA28 CFI INCORRECTLY DIALS TWR FREQ, MAKING A STOP-AND-GO BEFORE RESOLVING THE CONDITION.
Narrative: AFTER TWR GIVING US CLRNC TO GO XWIND FOR RWY 9L, THEY TOLD US TO CHANGE FREQ TO 124.05. I CHANGED THE FREQ, BUT ACCIDENTALLY PUT 124.5. I DID NOT REALIZE WHAT I HAVE DONE. I RPTED ON THE NEW FREQ. TO THE BEST OF MY RECOLLECTION, I WAS CLRED TO DO THE STOP-AND-GO. WE DID THE STOP-AND-GO. I CALLED TWR TO REQUEST A FULL STOP, BUT NO JOY ON THAT FREQ, SO I WENT BACK TO THE FIRST FREQ. WHEN I RPTED ON THAT FREQ, TWR NOTIFIED ME TO CALL THEM AS SOON AS I PARKED. WHAT I BELIEVE CAUSED THIS MISTAKE WAS, PUTTING IN THE WRONG FREQ, NOT GETTING THE PROPER CONFIRMATION FROM TWR AFTER CHANGING FREQ, AND THE DISTR OF EXPLAINING WAYS TO IMPROVE THE LNDGS TO MY STUDENTS.
