Narrative:
After briefing civet arrival into lax, approach control changed it to mitts 1, with heading change and ILS frequency change. Had also been asked to keep speed up. Descended through 10000 ft while trying to understand name of arrival from controller, set in turn, change radios. It was busy! We leveled off at 9000 ft and 290 KTS. Just started slowing when ATC called.

Narrative: AFTER BRIEFING CIVET ARR INTO LAX, APCH CTL CHANGED IT TO MITTS 1, WITH HDG CHANGE AND ILS FREQ CHANGE. HAD ALSO BEEN ASKED TO KEEP SPD UP. DSNDED THROUGH 10000 FT WHILE TRYING TO UNDERSTAND NAME OF ARR FROM CTLR, SET IN TURN, CHANGE RADIOS. IT WAS BUSY! WE LEVELED OFF AT 9000 FT AND 290 KTS. JUST STARTED SLOWING WHEN ATC CALLED.
