Narrative:
Descent from 10000 ft MSL to 6000 ft MSL on approach vector, captain (PF) descended below 10000 ft doing about 290 KTS. Controller made radio call 'at 250 KTS' as a suggestion we should slow 250 KTS or less. Captain expeditiously leveled off at 9200 ft and slowed before continued to 6000 ft.
