Narrative:

On departure from grb, burning odor and smoke reported in cabin by lead flight attendant. Return to grb initiated after declaring an emergency with departure. Smoke and odor cleared on short final. Taxied off runway , met by crf. Made determination to go to the gate and deplane the passenger. On debrief with crf chief, he said he would have liked to check the aircraft out before we went to the terminal. My primary concern was to get the passenger off aircraft as quickly and safety as possible. Agreed that there were conflicting priorities at the time of incident. APU oil overserving was the determination of cause by maintenance.
