Narrative:
Flight departed evv, over maximum allowable takeoff weight. This maximum allowable weight was limited by expected fuel burn, so as not to land overweight. We noticed the error en route and notified ATC that we would need to hold to burn off extra fuel (approximately 500 pounds -- 20 mins). The flight landed in cvg 14 mins late, but under maximum allowable landing weight. No limitations were exceeded, however, it was a mistake that we, the flight crew, should have avoided in the first place. From now on, I will definitely pay more attention to our limiting takeoff weights -- especially those based on fuel burn and maximum allowable landing weight.

Title: A CARJ CREW DEPARTED WITH ACFT OVER MAX ALLOWABLE TKOF WT.
Narrative: FLT DEPARTED EVV, OVER MAX ALLOWABLE TKOF WT. THIS MAX ALLOWABLE WT WAS LIMITED BY EXPECTED FUEL BURN, SO AS NOT TO LAND OVERWT. WE NOTICED THE ERROR ENRTE AND NOTIFIED ATC THAT WE WOULD NEED TO HOLD TO BURN OFF EXTRA FUEL (APPROX 500 LBS -- 20 MINS). THE FLT LANDED IN CVG 14 MINS LATE, BUT UNDER MAX ALLOWABLE LNDG WT. NO LIMITATIONS WERE EXCEEDED, HOWEVER, IT WAS A MISTAKE THAT WE, THE FLC, SHOULD HAVE AVOIDED IN THE FIRST PLACE. FROM NOW ON, I WILL DEFINITELY PAY MORE ATTN TO OUR LIMITING TKOF WTS -- ESPECIALLY THOSE BASED ON FUEL BURN AND MAX ALLOWABLE LNDG WT.
