Narrative:

Aircraft xyz was scheduled to maintenance ferry from cos to sfo for retirement under a type 2 ferry. #1 check was out of time (corrosion visit check). En route, crew was requested to divert to den for operational reasons. Aircraft XXX was OTS and needed the engines off of xyz to return aircraft to service. I was quickly debriefed on this situation, when the dispatcher conferenced me on with the flight crew. The flight crew did not have a problem with diverting to den, but wanted a new ferry permit to reflect the aircraft going to den in lieu of sfo. Reviewing over the situation, I felt at the time that it would not be a problem for the aircraft to divert to denver. However, I re-sent an amended ferry permit and sent to crew via ACARS to their printer. The sector dispatcher and dispatch manager were in the loop with the maintenance ferry diverting to den. After a few mins, reflected upon my actions, I felt my actions were not appropriate. It may have been a sound business decision to make, but contradicts our procedures for a maintenance ferry. My actions were good for the company, but sheds an unkindly light upon myself.

Narrative: ACFT XYZ WAS SCHEDULED TO MAINT FERRY FROM COS TO SFO FOR RETIREMENT UNDER A TYPE 2 FERRY. #1 CHK WAS OUT OF TIME (CORROSION VISIT CHK). ENRTE, CREW WAS REQUESTED TO DIVERT TO DEN FOR OPERATIONAL REASONS. ACFT XXX WAS OTS AND NEEDED THE ENGS OFF OF XYZ TO RETURN ACFT TO SVC. I WAS QUICKLY DEBRIEFED ON THIS SIT, WHEN THE DISPATCHER CONFERENCED ME ON WITH THE FLC. THE FLC DID NOT HAVE A PROB WITH DIVERTING TO DEN, BUT WANTED A NEW FERRY PERMIT TO REFLECT THE ACFT GOING TO DEN IN LIEU OF SFO. REVIEWING OVER THE SIT, I FELT AT THE TIME THAT IT WOULD NOT BE A PROB FOR THE ACFT TO DIVERT TO DENVER. HOWEVER, I RE-SENT AN AMENDED FERRY PERMIT AND SENT TO CREW VIA ACARS TO THEIR PRINTER. THE SECTOR DISPATCHER AND DISPATCH MGR WERE IN THE LOOP WITH THE MAINT FERRY DIVERTING TO DEN. AFTER A FEW MINS, REFLECTED UPON MY ACTIONS, I FELT MY ACTIONS WERE NOT APPROPRIATE. IT MAY HAVE BEEN A SOUND BUSINESS DECISION TO MAKE, BUT CONTRADICTS OUR PROCS FOR A MAINT FERRY. MY ACTIONS WERE GOOD FOR THE COMPANY, BUT SHEDS AN UNKINDLY LIGHT UPON MYSELF.
