Narrative:
While en route from btm to slc on air carrier flight XXX, we got a passenger outer door caution message about over the top of dillon, mt. We followed the QRH procedure and had the flight attendant pull on center handle, at which time we got a red warning message which went out after a few seconds, but amber message remained, so we diverted to ZZZ without incident. Upon landing and rollout, all messages went out. The ground crew said the handle was fully latched when we got to the gate and it was working normally. I then spoke to dispatch and told them the main cabin door was working normally and I had nothing to write up on the door for maintenance control, as all messages had gone out. The dispatcher said he would notify maintenance control of this and flow us through to slc. I asked if all our paperwork was still good, and he said that all of our paperwork was good and that we didn't need a new release or manifest and that he would flow us through to slc as flight #XXXA. We changed the times on the manifest to include the divert to ZZZ, and continued on to slc without incident.
