Narrative:
I was flying. Captain was PNF, doing radios. I heard tower clear someone for takeoff (when we should be on center or approach control) I told captain. He went back to previous frequency. Some how we ended up on atlanta center 135 point 35 when we should've been on clt approach. Realized mistake about 3-5 mins later. Clt had been trying to reach us, about 15 unanswered calls. We'd been cleared to a fix on the approach and were still going there, so there was no conflict with other aircraft. But we were too high to start approach and controller was irritated. So he vectored us in a circle and we started the visual approach.
