Narrative:
During rotation, we heard a loud 'thump.' rotation and takeoff felt normal in every other way. We suspected a tail strike. During climb out, the captain called dispatch. We were advised by dispatch and maintenance control to return to detroit. Upon return to detroit, we were told that the tailskid had been 'scraped.' the takeoff was on runway 3C, 5 degrees flaps, 19 degrees rotation.
