Narrative:
After visually clearing the area, my student began slowing down to practice slow flight. Upon reaching about 50 KIAS, another katana appeared from our right. Initially we were flying wingtip-to-wingtip with the other aircraft crossing our flight path approximately 20 ft above our altitude. The other aircraft overtook us and then passed overhead from right to left. The other aircraft had recently departed provo and was flying through a practice area. We were in an area known for intense training activities. As a corrective action, we descended 200-300 ft to avoid a collision.
