Narrative:
We were cleared pdz 4 arrival for runway 25L at lax. When about level at 10000 ft, about 1 mi before arnes, ATC said 'sorry it is so late, but change runway to runway 24R.' I was flying autoplt off and autothrottle on. First officer was trying to change the FMGC to runway 24R. This was taking time, so I put the autoplt back on in heading mode because the FMGC had a discontinuity after arnes. I then entered pdz 227 degree radial on the radial navigation page. The runway 24R localizer is 14.7 DME from pdz. I then noticed we were 22 DME from pdz. At that time, ATC gave us a 220 degree heading to intercept runway 24R localizer. By then, we had runway 24R ILS set in the FMGC and we intercepted the localizer. The problem was it is only 2 mi from arnes to the runway 24R localizer. We were not able to intercept the ILS. I concentrated too much on the discontinuity after arnes and trying to stay on the pdz 227 degree radial. I should have had ATC give us a heading to intercept runway 24R localizer. The problem was trying to string the pdz 4 arrival into the runway 24R ILS.

Title: A320 FLC OVERSHOOTS LAX RWY 24R LOC IN ATTEMPT TO COMPLY WITH LAST MIN SCT RWY CHANGE.
Narrative: WE WERE CLRED PDZ 4 ARR FOR RWY 25L AT LAX. WHEN ABOUT LEVEL AT 10000 FT, ABOUT 1 MI BEFORE ARNES, ATC SAID 'SORRY IT IS SO LATE, BUT CHANGE RWY TO RWY 24R.' I WAS FLYING AUTOPLT OFF AND AUTOTHROTTLE ON. FO WAS TRYING TO CHANGE THE FMGC TO RWY 24R. THIS WAS TAKING TIME, SO I PUT THE AUTOPLT BACK ON IN HDG MODE BECAUSE THE FMGC HAD A DISCONTINUITY AFTER ARNES. I THEN ENTERED PDZ 227 DEG RADIAL ON THE RADIAL NAV PAGE. THE RWY 24R LOC IS 14.7 DME FROM PDZ. I THEN NOTICED WE WERE 22 DME FROM PDZ. AT THAT TIME, ATC GAVE US A 220 DEG HDG TO INTERCEPT RWY 24R LOC. BY THEN, WE HAD RWY 24R ILS SET IN THE FMGC AND WE INTERCEPTED THE LOC. THE PROB WAS IT IS ONLY 2 MI FROM ARNES TO THE RWY 24R LOC. WE WERE NOT ABLE TO INTERCEPT THE ILS. I CONCENTRATED TOO MUCH ON THE DISCONTINUITY AFTER ARNES AND TRYING TO STAY ON THE PDZ 227 DEG RADIAL. I SHOULD HAVE HAD ATC GIVE US A HDG TO INTERCEPT RWY 24R LOC. THE PROB WAS TRYING TO STRING THE PDZ 4 ARR INTO THE RWY 24R ILS.
