Narrative:
Departed cvg en route to mco. EICAS erase feature was on 'mco.' later on, advised that there was the possibility that this malfunction should not have been put on maintenance carryover, and that the mco may not have been legal. No problems encountered.

Title: B757 FLT CREW DEPART WITH EICAS ERROR, ASSESS PROB AT DEST ONLY TO DETERMINE THAT MAINT WAS IN ERROR IN PROVIDING THE ACFT RELEASE.
Narrative: DEPARTED CVG ENRTE TO MCO. EICAS ERASE FEATURE WAS ON 'MCO.' LATER ON, ADVISED THAT THERE WAS THE POSSIBILITY THAT THIS MALFUNCTION SHOULD NOT HAVE BEEN PUT ON MAINT CARRYOVER, AND THAT THE MCO MAY NOT HAVE BEEN LEGAL. NO PROBS ENCOUNTERED.
