Narrative:
Flight from ZZZ to jax, FL280, CL65 canadair regional jet CL65-200. We took off from ZZZ en route to jax uneventfully. Upon climb out at FL265 climbing to FL280, the hydraulic #1 low pressure caution light appeared and caution message on EICAS. The QRH procedure was accomplished, but when I called dispatch to alert our diversion, they told us to come back to ZZZ. Myr and chs seemed to be closer, but they insisted that I return to ZZZ. Upon reflection, I believe that the safer alternate would have been clt, then myr, and then maybe ZZZ. The dispatcher talked me into bringing back an aircraft to ZZZ which ended up being at 40 mins 12 mins. The engine driven pump then had to be replaced because of no fluid in the system. It is believed that a line was unsecured in the aft compartment on the gear of the aircraft.
