Narrative:
We were advised to cross landr intersection on the landr 3 arrival in denver at 17000 ft MSL and 250 KTS. We inadvertently started our descent too late to make the crossing altitude. We failed to properly program our FMS unit which is not VNAV coupled to our autoplt. Atl realized our error at FL235 after we started our descent out of FL260 at approximately 25 mi from landr.
