Air Traffic Incident | Operational Error |
Narrative:
Aircraft #1 was descended to 11000 ft, inbound to teb. Leaving 13000 ft, he was given normal speed. Aircraft #2 was supposed to be given descent to 13000 ft, but I said 11000 ft. This incident happened because of continually giving the same restrs on the same airway at different altitudes with no variety in type of traffic (ie, always longitudinal, never lateral conflicts).
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: ZDC LULLED INTO ROUTINE PRACTICES DSNDS A BE40 INTO CONFLICT WITH A B733 INBOUND TO TEB.
Narrative: ACFT #1 WAS DSNDED TO 11000 FT, INBOUND TO TEB. LEAVING 13000 FT, HE WAS GIVEN NORMAL SPD. ACFT #2 WAS SUPPOSED TO BE GIVEN DSCNT TO 13000 FT, BUT I SAID 11000 FT. THIS INCIDENT HAPPENED BECAUSE OF CONTINUALLY GIVING THE SAME RESTRS ON THE SAME AIRWAY AT DIFFERENT ALTS WITH NO VARIETY IN TYPE OF TFC (IE, ALWAYS LONGITUDINAL, NEVER LATERAL CONFLICTS).
