Narrative:
I was in first class galley when the smell of smoke became prominent. I checked the ovens and out the doors (window) made the #1 flight attendant aware. She went into cockpit and came out and told me to get my emergency procedure for landing. We were then made aware of a fire and smoke in cockpit. Cockpit was on oxygen. Captain made an announcement that we were returning to lax. We were airborne for at least a good 20-30 mins headed to mia. We then locked up galleys and proceeded to keep passenger calm. The #5 flight attendant administered oxygen to first class passenger. The #1 flight attendant and I felt nauseated. Checked out our assistants to brief and kept constant contact with cockpit. Landing was rough and then we were not allowed to deplane. Passenger were irritated and we flight attendants together continued to keep all passenger calm. We were briefed by captain and also by a special flight supervisor if we were to get another aircraft would we man it. We all declined. We were then by crew scheduling given the next day off. We all as crew members after deplaning filled out necessary forms. Most of us were shook up.
