Narrative:
I misinterped the guide-in signs and the left engine made contact with jetway. There was no damage to aircraft. The wheel on the leveling device on the jetway was bent. Supplemental information from acn 509664: the captain was taxiing the aircraft to gate at london gatwick. We were a B777 and we had just finished flying in from atl. The captain misinterped the mechanism used to stop the aircraft, and the left engine (still running) hit the jetway. There was no damage done to the aircraft, but some equipment on the jetway was bent. I was on the jump seat behind the captain, and when I saw us go pat the line on the device, I told him he was going past the stop line. When I began to worry that the nose would contact a sign in front of us, I told him we needed to stop. He proceeded to line up the neon light on the 'B777' lettering. The ground crew came on to tell us we had impacted the gate.
