Narrative:
Aircraft arrived late from maintenance. We were doing safety checks and preparing for flight. We were constantly interrupted by gate agents wanting to close up for an on-time departure. We explained that we just sat down 5 mins ago and we needed more time. Because of the rush, we missed seeing that bgm VOR was not entered in the FMC. Our flight took us from gaygc intersection to buf VOR (should have been gaygc-bgm-buf). We missed bgm VOR by 4 mi. In preparing the cockpit, we probably should have closed the cockpit door to prevent interruptions.
