Narrative:
Prior to our arrival at lax, I conducted a briefing with all company required items and studied possible taxi rtes to check out the gate location. Unfortunately, the assigned gate had some loading bridge construction in progress and the gate number was blocked from view by tarps and I overshot the point where I could safely turn to align the plane with the lead-in line. This necessitated a tow-in after a brief pushback onto an active taxiway. Neither maintenance personnel nor I initiated a call to ground control regarding a possible encroachment onto the taxiway. In the future, I'll consider that requirement, and better yet, I'll check the numbers on the 2 adjacent gates rather than simply its general location.

Title: CONSTRUCTION IN THE GATE AREA RESULTS IN PARKING DIFFICULTIES REQUIRING A PUSHBACK IN TO THE ARPT MOVEMENT AREA THAT WAS NOT COORDINATED WITH THE ATCT GND CTLR.
Narrative: PRIOR TO OUR ARR AT LAX, I CONDUCTED A BRIEFING WITH ALL COMPANY REQUIRED ITEMS AND STUDIED POSSIBLE TAXI RTES TO CHK OUT THE GATE LOCATION. THIS NECESSITATED A TOW-IN AFTER A BRIEF PUSHBACK ONTO AN ACTIVE TXWY. NEITHER MAINT PERSONNEL NOR I INITIATED A CALL TO GND CTL REGARDING A POSSIBLE ENCROACHMENT ONTO THE TXWY. IN THE FUTURE, I'LL CONSIDER THAT REQUIREMENT, AND BETTER YET, I'LL CHK THE NUMBERS ON THE 2 ADJACENT GATES RATHER THAN SIMPLY ITS GENERAL LOCATION.
