Narrative:
We departed bak, in, and were switched to ZID. Center assigned us FL230 which was put in the altitude alerter and was confirmed by the captain/PF. As we leveled at FL230, center asked our altitude and we confirmed leveling FL230. Center asked us to descend to FL220 immediately, which we did. Shortly thereafter, we were told to contact ZAU. There was no other communication with ATC concerning the matter.

Narrative: WE DEPARTED BAK, IN, AND WERE SWITCHED TO ZID. CTR ASSIGNED US FL230 WHICH WAS PUT IN THE ALT ALERTER AND WAS CONFIRMED BY THE CAPT/PF. AS WE LEVELED AT FL230, CTR ASKED OUR ALT AND WE CONFIRMED LEVELING FL230. CTR ASKED US TO DSND TO FL220 IMMEDIATELY, WHICH WE DID. SHORTLY THEREAFTER, WE WERE TOLD TO CONTACT ZAU. THERE WAS NO OTHER COM WITH ATC CONCERNING THE MATTER.
